Broadcaster Lightning Talks

Representatives from major international broadcasting companies elaborate on future strategies of cultural content on their channels and present their vision for incorporating arts programming in their schedules.

These Lightning Talks provide valuable insights about the future needs of major international buyers and are designed to facilitate communication and cooperation between producers, distributors and broadcasters.

Major broadcasting companies give an overview of their future plans and introduce new and innovative formats that are being developed or acquired in short presentations and participate in a Q&A with the audience.

Matthew Trustram is a TV broadcast industry professional working in international coproduction and distribution projects. He is responsible for the coordination of international music & dance projects with and on behalf of EBU member broadcasters.

ARILD ERIKSTAD

Executive Producer/Editor Music TV at NRK - Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation

Arild Erikstad began his career at NRK as Head of Music TV and Editor for music at NRK2.Today he is responsible for music co-productions within NRK. He is also music producer, Vice-President of the EBU Music Expert Group, President of the IMZ and was twice Head of the Jury Golden Prague.

SVT – SWEDISH TELEVISION, SWEDEN

ELLA PETERSSON

Music Editor in commission at SVT – Swedish Television

Ella Petersson is responsible for concert and music documentaries as well as a TV-host for broadcast culture programmes. Prior to that, she worked many years as a producer and music editor at Swedish National Radio (public service). Ella is educated in musicology, literature and culture at Stockholm University, singer at the Stockholm Opera Studio, and radio production at the Dramatic Institute of higher education.

JAN YOUNGHUSBAND

Head of Music & Events Commissioning at BBC Television

As part of the TV Factual Commissioning Team, Jan has commissioned and acquired live events, concerts and documentaries since joining the BBC in 2009. Additionally, she also works alongside Bob Shennan, Director of Music, to deliver the pan-BBC music strategy. Before joining the BBC Jan was Head of Arts and Performance at Channel Four Television for ten years where she also commissioned a number of award-winning series.

NICOLAS AUBOYNEAU

After experiences as magazine editor, Head of the Audiovisual Department at the Opéra National de Paris, producer and founder of the DVD Label Armide, Nicolas has been with France 2, France Télévisions since 2006. As the Director of Culture he is in charge of Music, Performing Arts and Cultural Programmes.

MARTIN TRAXL

Head of Culture Department at ORF – Österreichischer Rundfunk

Martin has been with the ORF since 1987 as journalist, editor and presenter for radio and television. In 1999 he was appointed Director of Culture Information and Culture Magazines in the Main Arts Department of the television section. After being responsible for programme coordination of 3sat in the Central Programme Service Department, Martin has been Head of Culture Department since 2007.

LOTHAR MATTNER

Director, Producer, Editor at WDR – Westdeutscher Rundfunk

Lothar Mattner has worked for SRG Zurich, BR Munich and other media companies in Europe. Ever since 1989 he has been responsible for music programs at WDR. He is President of the Music & Dance Expert Group at EBU Geneva and coordinates the ARTE/MUSICA programmes of ARD.

TOBIAS FEILEN

Head of the Music + Theatre Department at ZDF - Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen

As the Head of the Music + Theatre Department, Tobias is responsible for the music and theatrical programmes of the entire ZDF family – TV as well as online. That includes the main programme on ZDF, 3sat and in the field of classical music also ARTE Germany. This allows him to take advantage of synergies and increased funding for his programming at the ZDF family.

Wolfgang has gained extensive experience in developing and implementing TV formats, especially in the field of performing arts, rock, pop and classical music. Since 2011 he has been Managing Director of ARTE Deutschland where he is also ZDF coordinator for ARTE.

Senior Producer at Thirteen Productions LLC for WNET

As Senior Producer at THIRTEEN Productions LLC for WNET John Walker has produced a vast range of concerts, operas and documentaries. Prior to WNET, he was music assistant to Leonard Bernstein, traveling extensively with the major orchestras of the world. His previous experience also includes positions with CBS Cable, Camera Three Productions, Columbia Artists Management, and music publishers Boosey and Hawkes.

YASUKO KOBAYASHI

Senior Producer at NHK – Japan Broadcasting Corporation

Since joining NHK in 1995, she has established multi-camera directing skills for TV. Currently, as Senior Producer at NHK Music & Theatre Programmes Division, she is in charge of international TV co-production in classical music.
