The main purpose of the IMZ is to strengthen + connect the performing arts film industry
and to advocate the interests of its member organisations and the sector at large.
To this aim, the IMZ regularly joins industry events around the world, lends its expertise to specialised conference programmes
and actively engages in the judging process of renowned competitions + festivals.

ARS Electronica
Ars Electronica stages a yearly festival with over 1,000 international artists, scientists and experts to discuss current + future developments at the intersection of art + technology as well as their impact on society.
Classical: NEXT
Classical:NEXT is the annual, global networking + exchange hub dedicated to classical + art music and joins over 1,000 industry professionals worldwide.
Golden Prague International Television Festival
Hosted by Czech TV with the collaboration of the EBU + the IMZ, Golden Prague ITF brings together media experts from across the world with the open public and awards the best music + dance film productions.
International Emmy® Awards Semi-Final Round of Judging
The IMZ co-hosts the International Emmy Awards Semi-Final Round of Judging jointly with ORF Enterprise every year in Vienna. For over 17 years, the IMZ has been contributing its expertise in the category “Arts Programming”.
Karajan Music Tech Conference
The Karajan Music Tech Conference is a cross-industry networking event on the intersection of Classical Music + cutting-edge technology and is hosted yearly in Salzburg by the Karajan Institute in joint collaboration with the IMZ Academy.
Sunny Side of the Doc
The IMZ co-hosts an arts + culture pitching session at Sunny Side of the Doc, the international market for documentaries. In addition, the IMZ also hosts a panel and represents its members at the IMZ Umbrella Stand at their event in La Rochelle, France.
The ARTS+ at Frankfurter Buchmesse
The IMZ represents its members and the performing arts film industry at ARTS+ at Frankfurter Buchmesse, where key players from the cultural sector + major decision makers in politics + technology meet.
VENICE PRODUCTION BRIDGE
The IMZ was invited to join the VoD Market Day, co-organised by Eurovod - the network of European independent VoD platforms in cooperation with the Venice Production Bridge, the business section of La Biennale.
JURY ENGAGEMENT
dancescreen Competition
Initiated + organised by the IMZ, dancescreen is one of the world’s most relevant international dance film competitions. The IMZ also selects the expert jury together with the respective festival partner.
EBU-IMZ OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Together with the EBU Music + Dance Experts Group, the IMZ established the EBU-IMZ Outstanding Achievement Award in order to honour extraordinary luminaries in the cultural film sector.
Fedora Digital Prize
The IMZ is expert partner in the competition + judging process for the Fedora Digital Prize, awarded by Fedora, the platform aiming at nurturing European innovation + creativity and at increasing the reach of opera + ballet.
ICMA International Classical Music Award
The IMZ is part of the jury of international experts and takes part in the nominating + judging process of the renowned ICMA International Classical Music Award.
