Special Screening
‘Orfeo Ed Euridice’

Presented by Clasart Classic

For Gluck’s 300th birthday in 2014, his “Orfeo ed Euridice” was recorded at the Baroque castle theatre in Ceský Krumlov in a unique way. The opera is presented rather as a film than as recorded opera performance. Havelka’s film adaptation is based on the contrast between two worlds: Firstly, the world of an illusionary Baroque theatre with its completely preserved stage machinery, costumes and props. Secondly, the internal world where one can observe the timeless fight between love and conscience burdened with guilt. Outstanding counter tenor Bejun Mehta sings the role of the torn main character and acts as artistic adivsor.
