Virtual wine tasting with artists + friends - A toast to the future!

With digitalisation in full swing, what are the prospects for the performing arts? And how can the next generation embrace what lies ahead during ever-a-changing and sometimes uncertain times?

Ulrike Köstinger, Chief Content + Partnership Officer at Operabase, and Daniel Serafin, Artistic Director at Oper im Steinbruch, invite renowned arts managers, artists and journalists from Vienna to discuss the future of their industry facing the challenges of the pandemic and how to embrace digitalisation over a tasting of local wine from the province Burgenland.

Opera singers Piotr Beczała, Camilla Nylund, August Schram and Christina Sidak, Music Journalist + Publicist Axel Brüggemann, CEO of VBW International Franz Patay and Head of the Section for Arts and Culture of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport Jürgen Meindl take part in our Avant Première Salon. The wine tasting will be streamed for all participants of Avant Première and the public.

Participants of Avant Première have the chance to win one of 30 exclusive bottle duos of the Esterházy winery’s special edition "Turandot": To win, send an e-mail with the subject "WINE TASTING" to ticket(at)avant-premiere.net until Monday, 8 February.

About the wines
In the honor of Daniel Serafin’s latest production "Turandot" at the open-air "Oper im Steinbruch St. Margarethen", the Esterházy winery has created two special wines to match Puccini's work. The red variety was realised with the colour-intensive and grape varieties Merlot, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, vinified to achieve a fruit-focused style and matured in small wooden barrels. The white wine, on the other hand, was to be the counterpart: A perfect opportunity for semi-aromatic grape varieties like Rivaner and Grüner Veltliner, which show a lot of fruit and freshness even with moderate alcohol. Giuseppe Palella provided the label design with two of his beautiful costume designs as watercolours.

About the Esterházy winery
Esterházy looks back on a centuries-old winemaking tradition in northern Burgenland. Today, the winery focuses on organic farming and the creation of an internationally acclaimed project wine line by tender pruning, manual harvesting and gentle vinification. In the cellar, Amphorae made of clay, ceramic, concrete, granite barrels, stainless steel and wooden barrels made of local Leithaberg oak are used. Esterházy produces balanced, precise and multi-layered wines with passion and know-how.
