‘Pixel, Bytes + Film-Funding Programme: Moving image exploring borders of the arts’

Presented by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport (BMKOES)

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport (BMKÖS) supports innovative film formats and emerging artists with excellent synergy potential for the music and performing arts sector.

In cooperation with the Austrian television channel ORF III, their funding programme "Pixel, Bytes + Film" is a reaction to the enormous interest of artists in developing digital + virtual film works beyond conventional formats. Funding is provided to film projects that deal artistically with digital image production and explore new strategies of narration and alternative formats of visual experience.

In conversation with Peter Jaeger, media artist and university professor Margarete Jahrmann, Experimental Game Cultures, elaborates on latest developments in the digital arts, the distinctive artistic outcome of the programme and its potential benefits for an industry reaching out to new audiences and finding new ways of distribution.
