PANG Ka-Pang and new symphonic music from China
15 new commissioned works have been commissioned and premiered by Chinese conductor PANG Ka-Pang since the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra was founded five years ago. During the pandemic 2020-2022, the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra has given a total of 372 concerts. LIU Changyuan's Symphony No. 5 in D major "光明 GUANG MING / Light" with 5 movements was written in 2020 and premiered in November 2020. The work has a unique timbre through the interpretation of the orchestra. This comes from the combination of traditional Chinese and classical Western instruments.
PANG Ka-Pang studied in Vienna and Beijing. He now leads the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra in China, one of the youngest orchestras in China in their own concert hall. The young musicians of the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra have an average age of 29. Combining traditional Chinese music with modern classical music. Pang commissions composers to create new symphonic works for the special instrumentation of his orchestra.
