The Sound Voice Project
The Sound Voice Project is an internationally award-winning immersive opera-video installation, a unique, surround-sound digital triptych exploring voice and identity, celebrating the intrinsic value of the human voice. Experienced powerfully through a blend of personal documentary film, graphics and digital operatic performance, it is a unique collaboration between artists, voice synthesis experts, immersive sound & video design, biomedical researchers, healthcare professionals and people who have lost their voices due to serious illness. Platforming narratives rarely heard, the work raises questions about how we make ourselves heard, how we listen and which voices are invited to the stage.
“Heart-wrenching, deeply personal and uplifting”, The Sound Voice Project is internationally recognised, awarded the prestigious European FEDORA Digital Prize, Alternate Realities Award (best non-fiction work) at international film festival Sheffield Doc-Fest and a British Ivor Novello Academy Award: “A striking work of exceptional emotional power” that “embraces human fragility in a moving and deeply personal way.” Performed by people whose voices are rarely heard, their stories have a universal meaning for us all. The work's been a catalyst for change of thinking & practice in healthcare, biomedical and commercial sectors and has driven innovation cross-industry.
