dancescreen 2019 JURY

All films submitted for dancescreen are assessed by an expert jury defining the preselected films for the competition. Preselected films will be screened at dancescreen 2019 + TANZRAUSCHEN Festival Wuppertal from 21-24 November 2019 in Wuppertal, Germany. dancescreen 2019 Award Winners will be announced during the award ceremony at the festival. dancescreen Jury Experts are selected by both the IMZ and the festival partner. Drawing on its large international expert's network, the IMZ appoints specialists in filmmaking, broadcasting and the media as well as acclaimed choreographers and dancers into the jury.


Freelance artist, Germany

Is an educated biologist and teacher for dance improvisation. Since 2000 she works as a freelance artist in the field of video documentation of performing arts. Besides documenting dance for research projects like Tanztechniken 2010 or TANZFONDS ERBE www.tanzfonds.de, she works closely with several dance artists accompanying artistic work as well as documenting stage performances. She is part of the artistic research group AREAL artistic research group Berlin and contributed her knowledge as a researcher in video documentation to the web publication „MIND THE DANCE“ in 2017. mindthedance.com



Dance critic, choreographer, researcher, dance film programmer at Dances with Camera, Poland

Curator of Dances with Camera, an international competition and dance film program at Short Waves Festival in Poznań. And curator of the Kino Tańca (Dance Cinema) at Dance Art Center in Warsaw (CST), where she programmes monthly dance film presentations.



Artistic Director of Tero Saarinen Company, Dancer, Choreographer, Finland

Saarinen has created over 40 internationally acclaimed productions for Tero Saarinen Company and prominent dance groups from across Europe to South Korea. He made his international breakthrough with Westward Ho! (1996) and often draws on live music and great composers like Igor Stravinsky (HUNT, 2002), Jean Sibelius (Kullervo, 2015), Claudio Monteverdi (Third Practice, 2019) or revolutionary accordionist Kimmo Pohjonen (Breath, 2018). The official dancescreen 2019 Sujet represents Saarinen’s production Morphed (2014) to Esa-Pekka Salonen’s music.


Henrik von Sydow

Acquisitions Executive at SVT – Swedish Television, Sweden

With a background as teacher, presenter, network director and head of the online promo department at SVT, Henrik von Sydow is currently SVT’s buyer of music and fine arts. He is also responsible for scheduling the weekly primetime broadcast slot Kulturstudion (“The Culture Studio”).


Marisa Zanotti

Screen artist, United Kingdom

Marisa Zanotti is an award-winning screen artist who has been exploring ideas around bodies, screens and perception through analogue and digital technologies since the 1980s in different kinds of screen projects. Her current work is informed by her background in performance, choreography, theatre and installation practices.
