
AWARD CATEGORIES
With a wide international outreach and a strong impact on careers dancescreen is one of the most prestigious international dance film competitions. Out of all preselected films and across all submission categories the dancescreen 2019 Jury announces the award winner of 'Best Film' and 'Best Student Film' as well as the winner of the 'Social Movers Award'. Films and cannot be submitted for these categories.

AWARD FOR BEST FILM - 3.000 EUR
The Award for Best Film honours the best of all dancescreen 2019 films across all categories. The award is endowed with 3.000 EUR prize money.

AWARD FOR BEST STUDENT FILM - 1.500 EUR
The Award for Best Student Film honours the best of all dancescreen 2019 student films across all categories. The award is endowed with 1.500 EUR prize money.

SOCIAL MOVERS AWARD - 1.500 EUR
The Social Movers Award is a new award category in the dancescreen film competition with special focus on social issues. The category welcomes film submissions like specific examinations of socially critical issues or the structural involvement of different social groups and communities in the process of dance film production.
The Social Movers Award recognises the cinematic explorations of a multi-layered society that demands other forms of social participation and in which dance - in all its possibilities - is understood as an expression of life in its diversity.
The award is endowed with 1.500 EUR prize money.
The dancescreen film competition honours excellence in dance film production: The jury evaluates submitted films on originality, choreography and dramaturgy, technical execution, production design as well as meaning and message. Films can be submitted for the following award categories:

A - LIVE PERFORMANCE RELAY AND CAMERA RE-WORK
Multi-camera relay/capture of a live dance performance and adaptation of an existing choreography

B - ANIMATION
Choreography animated

C - SCREEN CHOREOGRAPHY
Choreographic work specifically created for the screen, including experimental films and narrative fiction.
Subcategories are divided in:
Up to 5 minutes
Up to 15 minutes
Over 15 minutes

D - DOCUMENTARY
Profile of and artist, a choreographer, a dance company, a choreographic process, a dance history or other related subjects. English subtitles are needed if the language spoken is other than English.
