Cinedans FEST '22 in partnership with dancescreen JURY

All films submitted for Cinedans FEST '22 in partnership with dancescreen were assessed by an expert jury, who preselected films for the competition. Selected by both the IMZ and the festival partner, Cinedans, the IMZ drew on its large international expert's network, appointing authorities in filmmaking, broadcasting and the media as well as acclaimed choreographers and dancers.

PRE-SELECTION JURY
The jury for the pre-selection consisted of representatives from the IMZ + the Cinedans community and pre-screened all submissions.

FINAL JURY
The final jury consisted of internationally-renowned experts from the dance film industry. Get to know them below!


ARILD ERIKSTAD

Executive Producer and Editor of Music TV, NRK – Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation // IMZ President

Erikstad began his career at NRK as Head of Music TV + Editor for music at NRK2. Today he is responsible for music co-productions within NRK. He is also a music producer, Vice President of the EBU Music Expert Group, Head of the Jury Golden Prague and President of the IMZ.

Erwin Stürzer

General Manager Naxos Audiovisual Division

With a broad background both in repertoire and business experience Erwin Stürzer has worked in the music and arts industry for 25 years. Before heading the Audiovisual Division at Naxos Music Group he was managing director at Arthaus Musik and at harmonia mundi. Amongst his fields of expertise are audivisual and audio production, distribution, catalogue evaluation and business development. 

Gabri Christa

Choreographer, Filmmaker + Curator

Gabri Christa (She/Her) was born and raised in Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean and lives in New York. Her work investigates post-colonialism, personal stories, experimentalism, and common humanity. Awards include the Guggenheim for Choreography, an ABC television award for creative excellence, Pangea Day Festival’s one World’s 100 most promising Filmmakers distinction. She is Associate Professor of Professional Practice, where she also teaches Screendance, composition, dance, directs the Movement Lab and is the Founding- Director - Curator of the social justice Screendance festival Moving Body- Moving Image. She was a choreographer and dancer with Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, co-founder with Marianela Boan of DanzAbierta de Cuba, and a dancer with the Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company among others.

Helen Westerik

Film Historian + Teacher

Helen Westerik is a film historian and teacher. She writes for Cultureel Persbureau about film and performing arts. She is currently researching the body in arts. 

Loránd János

Director of Choreoscope – Barcelona Dance Film Festival

Born in 1980 in Transylvania, he studied film directing at the Bucharest Film Academy, as well as Photo-Video Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest. Since 2001 he has directed several short dance films that have been screened in festivals (Dance on Camera, Jumping Frames, …) and programmed in television. He was a jury member of the Production Grant Review Panel for the Dance Films Association New York, Leeds International Film Festival - Screendance Competition (2019 and 2020) and Zinetika Festival (2021). Loránd is an Associate Professor of Dancefilm at IAB (Institute of Arts Barcelona). His most recent projects include Moovy Tanzfilmfestival in Cologne, Germany (co-artistic director 2017-2021) and he is currently the online dance film program curator of Dansa Metropolitana Barcelona.

PREVIOUS JURY MEMBERS

Together with the respective festival partner, experts from the IMZ screen and assess all submitted dance films in order to establish a preselection for the film screenings and dancescreen competition. Drawing from its extensive experience and international network, the IMZ is happy that specialists in filmmaking, distribution, broadcasting and media as well as acclaimed choreographers and dancers have accepted the invitation to join dancescreen as members of the jury.
