Peter Maniura, IMZ Academy Director and Head of Digital Development BBC Arts, provides an outline of the course aims followed by a general introduction round where every participant briefly summarizes the current digital and media strategy of their institution.

15:00-16:00 Presentation “Re-imagining Opera for the Digital Age“ by Peter Maniura
New media poses challenges but also opportunities for the Opera that have to be met with relevant strategies in order to thrive in the digital age.

16:15-17:30 Case Study 1: David Collins, Director of External Affairs at Opera North
Focus on new approaches to filming full-length opera performances.

17:30-17:45 Outlook on tomorrow’s Workshop

Peter Maniura will give a preview of tomorrow´s agenda and assign topics for the workshop.

The internationally renowned filmmaker shares his 20+ years of experience in multi-camera directing of opera programmes.

11:00-2:00 Presentation “Social Media Insights“ by Peter Maniura
Social Media is a phenomenon which cannot be ignored in communicating with our audience. Peter Maniura looks at the implications of the explosion in social media and offers some thoughts on best practice and interacting with the audience.

12:00-13:00 Case Study 2: Agnieszka Kłopocka, Project Leader of "The Opera Platform" and Marcin Fedisz, Promotion & Marketing and Literary Department, at the Polish National Opera
Best practice in building a successful digital campaign around a live stream.

13:00-14:00 Lunch break

14:00-16:00 Practical Workshop
Participants divide into groups and work together on the assigned practical task.

16:00-17:00 Workshop Report Back
Each group presents their results and findings.

17:00-17:30 Summary and Conclusion
Peter Maniura leads the discussion to summarize what we have learned over the past two days and how this can be applied in our professional lives when we get back home.
