13:10-13:25 Course outline + Introduction

IMZ Academy Director Peter Maniura provides an outline of the course aims.

13:25-14:15 Presentation “Opera in the Digital World” by Peter Maniura

New media poses challenges but also opportunities for Opera that have to be met with relevant strategies in order to thrive in the digital age.

14:15-15:00 Introduction Round

Participants briefly summarise the current digital + media strategy of their institution

15:00-15:15 Break

15:15-16:30 Keynote Speech by Stage Director Graham Vick

16:30-17:45 Presentation "Multi-camera Coverage of Opera in the Digital Age – from Cinema to Online" by Kriss Russman

17:45-18:00 Outlook on tomorrow’s workshop

Peter Maniura will give a preview of tomorrow’s agenda and assign topics for the workshop.


In the evening all participants are invited to drinks and dinner to network and get to know each other.

DAY 2: 10 July 2019

09:30-11:00 Case study by Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra

11:00-11:15 Break

11:15-12:00 Presentation by Lanfranco Li Cauli, Teatro alla Scala

12:00-13:00 Presentation "Social Media Insights" by Peter Maniura

Social Media is a phenomenon which cannot be ignored in communicating with our audience. Peter Maniura looks at the implications of the explosion in social media and offers some thoughts on best practice and interacting with the audience.

13:00-14:00 Lunch Break

14:00-15:30 Practical Workshop

Participants divide into groups and work together on the assigned practical task.

15:30-15:45 Break

15:45-16:45 Groups report back

Each group presents their results and findings.

16:45-17:00 Summary and Conclusion

Peter Maniura leads the discussion to summarize what we have learned over the past two days and how this can be applied in our professional lives when we get back home.
