The IMZ Pitching Session is back—and it’s better than ever! With our new and improved format, we’re giving you a platform to showcase your performing arts documentary projects to a jury of international decision-makers, all for a chance to win a €5,000 cash prize.
The submission period runs from 16 October to 9 December 2024. After that, our committee will handpick five outstanding projects to be showcased at Avant Première 2025. Selected filmmakers will be notified by 15 January, with the live pitching session taking place on 17 February in Berlin.
What we are looking for
We are on the search for documentaries that showcase the impact of the performing arts on individuals, communities, and cultures around the world. Bold, innovative, and fresh approaches to the subject matter are highly encouraged. From artist portraits to the cultural impact of music and dance—and everything in between—we want to see it all. Such as (but not limited to):
- A deep dive into a specific genre
- A portrait of an artist
- An exploration of the cultural impact of music and dance
We welcome submissions of feature-length documentary films, one-offs, series, and short-formats, all intended for broadcast and distribution. Projects at any stage of development are eligible, whether it’s an early concept or a finished (but not yet broadcast) production.
Important Dates
- Submission Period: 16 October – 9 December 2024
- Pre-Selection by IMZ Committee: 10 December – 6 January 2025
- Notification of selected pitches: By mid-January 2025
- Pitching Session: 17 February at Hotel Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz.
PRIZE
The winning pitch will receive €5,000 and a special prize from our colleagues at Sunny Side of the Doc.
